SEPA & PSD

Payments - Payment Service Directive The Directive on Payment Services (PSD) provides the legal foundation for the creation of an EU-wide single market for payments. The PSD aims at establishing a modern and comprehensive set of rules applicable to all payment services in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) for all EU/EEA currencies. The target is to make cross-border payments as easy, efficient and secure as "national" payments within a Member State. The PSD also seeks to improve competition by opening up payment markets to new entrants, thus fostering greater efficiency and cost-reduction. At the same time the Directive provides the necessary legal platform for the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). This presentation will deliver a deep insight in driving benefits from the PSD and SEPA and how the PSD will be transposed into the local legislation

Payments - Exceptions & Investigations Figures from the industry indicate that, on average, 2 to 5 percent of daily payments give rise to an exception. Managing all these investigations is a resource-intensive and costly activity for all financial institutions. In addition, bank’s customers are always looking to reduce the turnaround time of their payment enquiries as this will speed up payments reconciliation and allow for better control of payables and receivables. All this, linked to the fact that regulations such as SEPA and FATF7 are forcing banks to become more efficient, makes it vital for the industry to address payments exceptions and investigations in a more structured and automated way. This presentation will inform you about the initiatives from the industry to address the pain points of the payments exceptions and investigations activity in line with SEPA requirements.
